We believe in a vibrant and self-sustaining community where the collective strength of the community drives positive change and social justice. A community that embraces diversity, encourages sustainable practices and provides opportunities for personal and collective growth. A community where social, economic, and environmental well-being are promoted.
“To empower and uplift groups and individuals through sustainable and innovative development initiatives in the areas of education, health, and agriculture that foster inclusivity, social equity, economic well-being, and environmental stewardship. We want to collaborate with residents, locals, international partners, and governmental agencies to address local needs, enhance the quality of life, and build a resilient and thriving community for future generations.”
Situated in the serene Afram Plains of Ghana, Amankwakrom is an island surrounded by the tranquil waters of Volta Lake, the world’s largest man-made lake. Despite possessing thousands of hectares of fertile land for cultivating crops such as maize, soybeans, chili pepper, okra, honey, and groundnuts, the community has struggled with generational poverty.
Over the years, Amankwakrom has faced challenges like limited education, a deficient healthcare system, and low economic income. In 2020, Nana Otukwa IV assumed the throne as the new chief. During his inaugural year, he dedicated time to understanding the community and its challenges. Recognizing the deep-rooted issues and challenges of the community, Nana Otukwa VI felt compelled to do something about the situation. Together with the locals, he aspired to rebuild a sustainable, self-reliant community where everyone could thrive. Nana Otukwa VI envisioned empowering and inspiring the people, uniting them, and instilling hope for positive change. He believed that, with the right tools and support, the people of Amankwakrom and neighboring communities could improve their livelihoods, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come. His vision aimed to encourage the youth to stay in the community rather than seek a better life in larger cities. This noble cause gave rise to the establishment of the Kwahu Asabi Royal Foundation in 2021. The foundation’s mission is to organize, facilitate, and promote sustainable change, self-reliance, inclusivity, and social equity, with a primary focus on agriculture, education, and health.
